$100,000 EXTRA win in Thompson!

George Stoican got the surprise of a lifetime when he checked his LOTTO 6/49 ticket and saw a 1 followed by a few zeroes. The Thompson local won $100,000 on the September 16 EXTRA draw.

“I checked the ticket at the store and thought I won $1,000, so I took it to the clerk,” he said. “The retailer checked it, and his eyes got big…”

“He looked at me and said, ‘You’d better sit down. It’s more than $1,000. You won $100,000!’” he laughed. “I told him not to play tricks on me – it’s hard to believe in the moment!”

The Thompson winner said he will put his windfall toward his retirement.

“This is a beautiful retirement surprise!” he said.

Stoican purchased his winning ticket from The Needles Eye Ltd. store, located at 2-436 Thompson Drive in Thompson. He won his prize by matching the last six digits of the EXTRA number drawn on September 16 – 6804828.
