Regina winner scratches his way to $100,000
Shawn McNabb was happy when he thought he won $1,000. He was a lot happier when he realized he’d misread his winning HOT LINES ZING ticket.
“I looked closer and it actually said $100,000,” recalled McNabb, who said the realization that he was taking home the ticket’s top prize left him “overjoyed.”
“I just started screaming and jumping up and down. My son didn’t understand the commotion,” he laughed.
McNabb picked up his winning ticket in July as part of a $20 SUPER SCRATCH PACK purchased at the Cy Mart in Superstore at 101-2055 Prince of Wales Drive in Regina. After scratching the ticket, he rushed to check it six times at ticket checkers at two different stores before turning it over to a clerk to confirm that he really was $100,000 richer.
McNabb said he plans to use the windfall to update some old electronics and take care of some other essentials.
“It’ll be nice to not have to worry about expenses,” he said.
