Regina winner takes home $100,000 EXTRA prize
Regina’s Reyniel Malenab was extremely excited when he discovered he won $100,000 by adding the EXTRA to his LOTTO MAX ticket for the March 27 draw – even if his parents didn’t believe him at first.
While at a local gas station with his parents, Malenab checked his ticket using the self-checker and discovered his win before taking it up to the clerk to confirm he was $100,000 richer.
“I told my dad and he didn’t believe me,” laughed Malenab, who said he was “so happy and nervous” that he was shaking. “Then my mom came in.She wanted to know why I was pacing around – and I told her and she didn’t believe me either!”
Malenab picked up his winning ticket the day before the draw at the Circle K at 2108 Albert Street in Regina. He matched the last six digits of the EXTRA number – 2647936.
Malenab claimed his prize earlier this month after choosing to wait to claim it in person. At the time, lottery prize offices were closed to the public to protect employees and players from possible exposure to COVID-19. In the meantime, he’s thought about what to do with his windfall.
“I’ve already been putting money aside to go to university and this will really help out with that,” he said, adding that he was also considering treating himself to a new vehicle.
