Saskatoon winners net $100,000 on EXTRA
When Saskatoon’s Randal Goertzen and Donna Lu found out they were $100,000 richer after winning the second-top EXTRA prize on the June 2 LOTTO MAX draw, they tried to play it cool.
“I was in shock – then a lot of people started to line up behind us and I just wanted to get out,” Donna chuckled, recalling the cashier originally thought they’d won $10,000 before it became clear they were taking home 10 times that amount.
“We tried to keep quiet…we don’t like to make a big scene,” laughed Randal.
The couple found out about their windfall when they checked their ticket at the Shoppers Drug Mart at 3014 McClocklin Road in Saskatoon – the same store where they bought their winning ticket.
Goertzen and Lu said they’ll use their prize to continue to support some charities, pay off some debt, share with their families and perhaps travel more when it’s safe to do so.
Sask Lotteries is the fundraiser for more than 12,000 sport, culture, recreation and community groups.
