Swift Current winner takes home $100,000 windfall
It’s probably the biggest gift Swift Current’s Colin Viker has ever gotten. Viker received a NATIONAL LAMPOON’S CHRISTMAS VACATION ZING ticket from his sister as a Christmas gift and it sat almost forgotten in a drawer for months before he pulled it out in mid April.
Not a regular ZING player, Viker had to read the back of the ticket to make sure he was scratching the card correctly – and was shocked to find out it was worth $100,000!
“I thought I won, but I had to read the rules again to make sure,” he recalled. “I was pretty excited when I realized.”
To double check, Viker took the ticket down to a local gas station where the staff confirmed his win.
“They almost seemed more excited than I was,” Viker chuckled. “I don’t think it had really sunk in for me yet.”
Viker’s sister picked up the winning ticket all the way back in December from the St. Walburg Pharmacy at 31 Main Street in St. Walburg.
Viker said he’s likely to invest the windfall from his Christmas gift and possibly use some of it to travel more.
