Yorkton couple nets second-top LOTTO MAX prize
As far as Trevor Liebrecht knew, it was a normal day.
Liebrecht was busy in the kitchen making homemade sausages when his partner, Jodee Langan, rushed in to let him know they were $801,281.30 richer after scoring the second-top prize in the April 10 LOTTO MAX draw.
“It was hard to believe,” recalled Langan. “Trevor definitely didn’t believe me at first!”
Langan discovered their win using the Lotto Spot! app the morning after the draw. She also double checked online to confirm the couple had indeed matched six of seven winning numbers (3,9,10,14,15,19,20) for the draw, plus the bonus number (25).
“I was shocked,” laughed Langan, who picked up their winning Quick Pick ticket a couple of days before the draw at Loaf N Jug at 387 Parkview Road in Yorkton.
Langan and Liebrecht opted to wait until they could claim their prize in person – at the time of their win, prize offices were closed to the public to help limit the risk of COVID-19 to employees and winners – and claimed their windfall in late July.
The couple said they’ll use their money to pay down the mortgage on their homes, do some renovations and help make them both debt free.
“We’ll probably also use some of it to help out our daughters, and maybe take a family trip later,” noted Langan.
