Regina local takes home $100,000 EXTRA prize using Lotto Spot app
Maria Alviola is one of the first players to win big on a ticket purchased through the Lotto Spot app since the ability to purchase tickets through the app was rolled out in 2022.
She used the app to purchase her ticket for the Nov. 15 LOTTO MAX draw and discovered she would be taking home a $100,000 prize from the EXTRA she added to her ticket a couple of days later when she went back to check the app.
However, as it was the first time she’d won a prize of that amount, Alviola didn’t want to get her hopes up, so called the lottery office to confirm what she was seeing.
“I wasn’t sure if it was legitimate or not,” she said with a laugh, while claiming her prize.
The Regina winner said she intends to invest some of her windfall.
"I'm going to try and find a way to make the money work for me," she said.
Alviola won by matching the last six digits of the winning EXTRA number for the Nov. 15 LOTTO MAX draw - 2608994.
Lotto Spot app lets you buy tickets from your pocket
Lottery players in Saskatchewan have been able to use their mobile device to play their favourite lottery games since last spring.
Players can buy tickets for LOTTO MAX, LOTTO 6/49, WESTERN MAX, WESTERN 649, and DAILY GRAND wherever and whenever is convenient for them right from their mobile device in just a few moments on either iOS or Android devices. And, like Alviola did, they can add the EXTRA to their ticket with just a couple of extra taps.
Mobile tickets are stored right on players’ phones and they’ll be informed of winnings the day after each draw.
Claiming a prize on a mobile lottery ticket works in the same way as a paper ticket. Players can take their phone to a Lotto Spot retailer to claim smaller prizes and for prizes over $1,000 they should contact WCLC Player Care at 1-800-665-3313 for instructions.
Tickets are still available at lottery retailers throughout the province and through Subscription Spot – this new feature is just one more way lottery players can ensure they’re in the next draw.
