$500,000 windfall in Tisdale
James Wright from Tisdale is $500,000 richer thanks to matching all seven numbers of one of the MAXMILLIONS drawn for the May 27 LOTTO MAX draw. His ticket’s winning numbers were 9, 18, 19, 22, 29, 30 and 38.
Wright was at the Lake Country Co-op at 779 801 15th St. in Prince Albert on May 27 when he decided to pick up a LOTTO MAX ticket for the draw that evening.
The next morning, Wright said that while he was enjoying his morning coffee with his wife, he saw that someone in Saskatchewan was a MAXMILLIONS winner.
“Wouldn't that be something if that was my ticket?” he recalled thinking.
Wright got up and grabbed his ticket from his truck. When he scanned it using the Lotto Spot! app he couldn't believe his eyes — the app was telling him he was the winner from Saskatchewan!
He checked his ticket once more to be sure and then shared the news with his wife.
“I went into the house and scanned it for my wife. She said, 'That can't be right!' so we scanned it again,” he recalled as he claimed his prize. "Just shock. I still don't think it's real."
The happy winner plans to put part of his windfall toward his mortgage and take a vacation to Hawaii's beautiful islands.
“It's unbelievable!” he added.
