MELFORT RESIDENT WINS $100,000 EXTRA PRIZE!

Kerwin Edgington is celebrating a $100,000 lottery win. The Melfort resident won $100,000 on the November 15 EXTRA draw.

Edgington received his winning ticket from Melfort Rexall Drugs, located at 1121 Main Street. He paid $1 to add EXTRA to a LOTTO 6/49 free play he’d won on a previous draw. His EXTRA selection matched the last six digits of the winning number to win the add-on game’s second-highest prize. The winning EXTRA number on November 15 was 3848935.

The winner discovered his win the next week when he returned to the Rexall store to check his old tickets and buy new ones.

Edgington first checked his tickets on the store’s self-serve ticket checker. He had to check the $100,000 winner twice to be sure he was reading it correctly. Then he asked the store clerk to confirm it.

“I gave the clerk some tickets with smaller prizes first,” he remembered. “Then I handed him this one and said, ‘This is the big one.’ He said, ‘I’ve heard that before,’ – but then he checked it and said, ‘You’re right!’”

“I started shaking. I could barely write my name on the ticket,” he recalled.

Edgington said he plans to save and invest his windfall, along with using some to make improvements to his home.
