$5 million LOTTO 6/49 Classic Draw win in Saskatoon
Mitchell and Sheila Peebles wasted no time after learning their LOTTO 6/49 ticket had won $5 million on the Saturday, May 6 draw. Discovering their win the day after the draw, the couple then claimed their prize first thing Monday morning.
“My normal process is to check my tickets the day after the draw,” said Mitchell. “Sometimes it’s the first thing I do when I wake up. I scanned this ticket and I felt an electric shock through my body. I was shocked, sure, but I believed it right away and it felt good!”
Sheila, on the other hand, took some convincing.
“I didn’t believe him,” she laughed. “He had to scan the ticket a second time and even then… I guess you could say I was in shock.”
The Saskatoon couple said they have a couple big plans for their windfall.
“Well, we’re both retiring,” said Mitchell. “And we’re going to buy a house for us and houses for our daughters, too.”
Mitchell purchased their winning LOTTO 6/49 ticket from 1 Stop Convenience, located at 1631 29th Street West in Saskatoon. They won their prize by matching all six main draw numbers on the May 6 draw – 3, 19, 23, 30, 37 and 42.
The new millionaires are the first winners in Saskatchewan to take home LOTTO 6/49’s Classic Draw jackpot. The national game was relaunched in September 2022 at which point the game’s main draw – where six numbers are drawn from a range of 1 to 49 – rebranded as the Classic Draw, offering a $5 million fixed jackpot on every draw.
Tickets for this Saturday’s LOTTO 6/49 draw are available until 8:30 pm at all Lotto Spot locations, Subscription Spot and the Lotto Spot app.
Sask Lotteries is the main fundraiser for more than 12,000 sport, culture and recreation groups in communities across Saskatchewan.
