Father and sons win $150,879.00 on LOTTO MAX free ticket!
Ron, Derek and Brett Smith are celebrating their new riches after winning $150,879.00 on the May 3 LOTTO MAX draw.
The trio – dad Ron, and sons Derek and Brett – redeemed a LOTTO MAX free play at Kindersley & District Co-op Ltd., located at 701 11th Avenue East in Kindersley. Ron returned to the store a few days later and discovered they had won.
“I had a few tickets to scan,” he said. “I took them to the self-scanner. When I got to the winner I thought, ‘Holy ----!’”
“I went home and laid the tickets out in front of my wife,” he continued. “I told her, ‘One of them is a non-winner, one of them is a free play winner, and one of them is a $150,000 winner.’ She thought I was kidding.”
Soon after discovering the win, the happy winner told his sons they were going to split the windfall three ways.
“We were all really excited,” said Derek.
“It feels surreal,” continued Brett.
The new winners said they each have a couple of ideas for their winnings.
“I’m going to do some house renovations,” said Ron. “Brett and Derek are going to put some money away and maybe do some travelling.”
“The best part is that this is going to help make things a little more comfortable for everyone,” Ron continued. “That’s a really great feeling.”
