I put the ticket in a hockey card case!
Marcel Littlechief saw he had won $1 million on LOTTO MAX and kept his ticket safe in a very unique place.
“I went home and put the ticket in a hockey card case,” he said. “I was worried about [losing it] before [claiming the prize] and it was nerve-wracking to have it on me!”
The Carlyle local said he was absolutely shocked to see the million-dollar win come up when he scanned it in store and said winning has felt “strange” and surreal.
“I was walking through the store with thoughts running through my head,” he said. “It was business as usual at work the next day because I don’t count my chickens before they hatch!”
Littlechief said he already has ideas on how to enjoy the win.
“There are wants and needs,” he explained. “I have my own place and my own car—I think the money will go towards my retirement and some travel.”
“I would like to attend an Oilers game with ice level seats,” he added, smiling.
Littlechief purchased his winning LOTTO MAX ticket from South Plains Co-op at 311 Railway Ave. E in Carlyle. He won his prize by matching one of the MAXMILLIONS selections in the LOTTO MAX January 21 draw: 1, 23, 30, 32, 45, 46, and 49.
Littlechief won the only MAXMILLIONS prize in the January 21 draw.
