SASKATOON MAN READY TO GET COMFY AFTER WINNING $1.5M LOTTERY PRIZE
New millionaire plans for family time, and new pajamas
Saskatoon’s newest lottery millionaire laughed when he remembered his first thought after discovering a $1.5 million lottery windfall.
“I’m going to buy a new pair of pajamas,” said Gunther Appl. “I have no idea why that was the first thing that popped into my head, but it was.”
Appl won the $1.5 million top prize on his SUPER SET FOR LIFE SCRATCH ‘N WIN ticket. He received his prize today.
Appl said his prize amount was an extra surprise; at first, he thought he won $1,500.
“I scratched my ticket and then checked it on the WCLC Mobile App,” he said. “I saw the first couple numbers and thought, ‘Great, I won $1,500!’”
“When my son looked at the ticket, he said, ‘Excuse me, there’s an extra comma in this number!’” he said, laughing. “We couldn’t believe it!”
All pajama jokes aside, the happy winner said he is looking forward to spending time with his family, and possibly taking some time to travel.
“I have no excuses not to take the time,” he said.
“I’ve always felt like I’ve won the lottery in my life,” Appl added. “Now it’s bonus time for our family!”
Appl purchased his winning SCRATCH ‘N WIN ticket at Saskatoon Co-op Stonebridge Food Store, located at 511 Wellman Crescent.
