SASKATOON RESIDENT CELEBRATES $1 MILLION LOTTO 6/49 WIN!
Omar Tarafder is starting 2018 with a million reasons to celebrate. The Saskatoon resident won $1 million on the December 23, 2017 LOTTO 6/49 draw, and he received his prize cheque today.
Tarafder bought his winning ticket from Golf’s Car Wash, located at 1205 Arlington Avenue in Saskatoon. The ticket was a $7 quick pick he bought as part of a $24 Super Pack. The Super Pack gives lottery players tickets for the upcoming LOTTO 6/49, LOTTO MAX, WESTERN 649, WESTERN MAX, and DAILY GRAND prize draws.
A few days after the draw, he visited the same store to check his ticket and discovered the big win.
“I saw a number with all these zeroes, and I knew it was a big one,” he remembered. “I thought it was $100,000 at first, but then I looked again.”
Tarafder exactly matched one of the five guaranteed prize numbers drawn on December 23, 2017 to win his $1 million prize. His winning selection was 36699772-01.
Although he said he stayed outwardly calm, Tarafder said he’s happy about the win and what it’ll mean for the future. He said he plans to pay off his debts, put some toward his children’s education, and save for the future.
“2017 was my lucky year!” he added.
