Fay Doepker’s eyes were wide open when she won a $100,000 lottery prize. The Saskatoon resident won $100,000 on her CROSSWORD SUPER BALL SCRATCH’N WIN ticket.

Doepker likes to play crossword-themed lottery tickets as a way to relax after a day at work. And that’s exactly what she did recently, with a ticket her husband purchased for her.

“I like the crossword games, because they take a little longer to play. They help me wind down,” Doepker said.

On this ticket, Doepker first thought she had won $6, but then she realized she had missed a piece. She thought she’d uncovered nine complete words to win $10,000.

“I wrote out all the words I’d completed on a piece of paper and counted them again,” she remembered. “I said to my husband, ‘I think I won $100,000!’”

“I couldn’t believe it. I’ve never won anything like this before!” the happy winner said.

Doepker said she plans to share some of her windfall with her children, and save the rest for now.

“It brings me a little closer to retirement,” she said.

Doepker’s $5 CROSSWORD SUPER BALL ticket was purchased from the Stop N Go Confectionary, located at #3-110 Wedge Road in Saskatoon.
